Asia 2011 - Week 4: Sri Lankan lazy days slipping by

By now we're pretty much settled into the Sri Lankan lifestyle - and it is so good only a fool would ever want to leave this place!




We're watching the sun set every night...



...from our small but cool and friendly hotel.
(This is mom about to be sniffed by a black dog!)



In the morning the view looks like this.
(Local boy making sure dad thinks twice before dropping in on him at Hikkaduwa inside reef.)



In the evenings the view is hypnotic, but not nice enough to stop John from having yet a swim.



Speaking about swimming.... Sara gets more confident by the day and now crosses the pool by herself.



John prefers to cross the pool under the surface.
(10m without breathing!)



On a daytrip we made down south dad caught some great waves. This is in the last 100m of one of them... (at a spot called Lazy Left, which we'll move to on monday.)



Meanwhile we got to play in the ditch by the crazy Galle road.



The beaches are actually not that busy in Sri Lanka.



Luckily we found a great treehouse at another beach.



In the treehouse we kicked back for an afternoon siesta.



On the way back we met this man - and his 2 deadly snakes.
He made them dance by playing a flute!



To the list of animals we in the wild this huge Varan can be added, spotted in a lagoon. (We've also seen baby sharks, monkeys and an eagle.)



We also saw some baby turtles, only 1 days old in a hatchery. (5 cm across)



Mom went looking for some pretty stones in this oldfashioned mine, but without luck.



The latest fashion around here is a little weird....



...but we think we have adopted it pretty good by now!


Tomorrow we are off for a safari with jeep into a national park. We think it will be like The Jungle Book coming alive.
