Oz 2011 6th week: On to the Mexicans of Australia! (Victoria)

Some pics from the far south and a few lists of what we've seen so far....

One of the best thing about a motorhome is that you can watch TV in it. But although this penthouse suite is our favorite crib...

...we prefer to have our most important meetings in "the green room"!
This takes a lot of practice though.

So Sara works out a lot in the paddling machine to strengthen her arms...

...and I train my balance to get those Grrrbacks just right.
This at The Surf World Museum in Torquay, the surfing capital of Australia or perhaps the world.

Meanwhile dad dropped in on the locals (all 2 that were out on this small day) at on of the most famous reef breaks anywhere: Bell's Beach

He was this stoked afterwards, and the next couple of days.
Funny what a few good waves can do to you!

And here's dads list of breaks surfed so far on this trip:
Avalon
North Narrabeen
Collaroy
Long Reef
Dee Why
Curl Curl
Freshwater
Bendalong beach
Green Island
Narrawallee
Cat Bay
Woolamai
Bell's
Japs
The Flume

Mom surfed most of them too!

We then went on to see some funny rocks out in the water called The Apostles.
"How did they build them", John asked.
"I dunno", Sara answered.

When on a walkabout you sometimes has to wade across a cold creek...

...or climb a pretty steep cliff.

After such a day it is great to fill up with your favorite food: Swedish thin pancakes. (And some local crayfish and wine for the grown ups)
Just because you have a small kitchen doesn't mean you eat little.

The animal kingdom around here is pretty wild.
This is a "walking stick" the size of John's hand.

And here are the animals we spotted in the wild so far we can remember:
Kangaroos
Rabbits
Manta Rays
Dolphins
Little penguins
Parrots
Bandicoot
Possums
Pelican
Kakkadua
Kokkaburra
Death Adder?
Dolphins
Koalas
...and more different birds, spiders and insects than you can imagine.

But the absolutely best thing about Oz is that there are playgrounds everywhere. Here are a few pics from the one we hang at now!

(note alternative routes both up and down)

... and we only got pictures of half of it, mate!

YouTube Video

Last but not least... Today mom got to stand in front of a crowd - which she doesn't like - and throw knives at some bloke at a carnival. This she seems to like however, so dad maybe needs to watch out....
Here's a sample video of this debacle. It went on for ten minutes or so and dad thougt it was great fun. We were a little scared though.

See ya in a week from Manila, after some more of Oz plus a short stopover in "Kuala Lumpur". (whatever that is, an animal perhaps?)
